Q: Is the RN-BSN offered at Anna Maria College accredited?
A: Yes, our RN-BSN online program is fully accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Q: How long will it take to complete the online RN-BSN program?
A: The length of the program depends on how many transfer credits you are awarded towards the 120 credit program and how many classes you choose to take each term. A minimum of 45 credits must be taken through Anna Maria College.* If you take 2 courses every 8 weeks at a time, this can be completed in as little as 16 months. If you take 1 course every 8 weeks, this can be completed in two and a half years. For a detailed course listing, check out the RN-BSN course description page.
Q: I already have an associate's or bachelor's degree. How many credits can I transfer?
A: Up to 75 credits can be transferred from a qualifying associate’s degree and up to 90 credits can be transferred from a qualifying bachelor’s degree. Our advisors will review your transcripts to make sure you get the most possible credit.
Q: I've been a working, registered nurse for years. Do I get any credit for that?
A: A minimum of 30 transfer credits will be granted to students who are Registered Nurses. Non-traditional credit (up to 6 credit hours) may be granted for CLEP (College Level Examination Program) or professional certification in a specialty practice area.
Q: Do I need to be licensed in Anna Maria College's home state to earn my BSN degree?
A: No. AMC accepts candidates with nursing licenses from all states with the exception of Maryland and Arkansas. Because no clinical component is required to earn the BSN from Anna Maria College, it is not necessary to become licensed in our home state of Massachusetts.
*Fewer than 45 credits may be required if a nurse already has a conferred bachelor's degree in another field.
