Financial Aid
Paying for higher education is a concern for many students but there are financial aid opportunities available. To receive financial aid, don't assume you may not be eligible and be sure to apply.
Anna Maria College Online uses the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine award amounts. To start the financial aid process, please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
In order to complete the FAFSA online, you will need to register for a FSA ID with the U.S. Department of Education. Your ID will serve as your electronic signature on any and all future Federal Financial Aid documents completed online. You can apply for a ID with these instructions.
You will also need to enter Anna Maria College's school code (002117) to have your information sent to us electronically.
The FAFSA can also be filed using a paper application. If you would like to request a paper application, please call the Federal Student Aid Hotline at 1-800-4FEDAID.
Financial Aid Payments for Tuition
If you obtain financial aid, please ensure that the pending or disbursed financial aid on your statement matches your award letter. If not, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 508-849-3366.
Pending Financial Aid may show up on your bill. Items under the heading of Pending Financial Aid are monies that the College has not yet received. Most of these items require action by the student before the funds will be disbursed to the billing statement. They include the Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, Plus Loan, State Scholarships, Pell Grant, MEFA Loan, and other loans and outside scholarships. As payments are received from loans and scholarships, credits are applied to the tuition statement. If you have questions about your pending financial aid, call the financial aid office at 508-849-3366.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Plan Now for Future Financial Rewards
Paying off student loans can add financial stress to your life. That's why Congress passed the College Cost Reduction and Access Act in 2007, which includes the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, rewarding those who qualify and go into public service fields such as the ones that Anna Maria's online programs provide training for: public safety, fire service, emergency management and more. You may qualify for the PSLF Program.
General Requirements for PSLF*
Students must maintain federally insured student loans, make 120 payments, and work full time in an eligible public service job for at least 10 years.
Repayment Options
During the 10 years you make payments, sliding scale programs are available which determine fair and reasonable repayment amounts based on your financial situation and family size.
Which Loans are Eligible?
Only Direct Loans are applicable. PSLF covers federal Stafford, Grad PLUS, or consolidation loans as long as they are in the Direct Loan program. Borrowers with loans in the FFEL loan program must switch to the Direct Loan program to get this benefit. Direct Loans include:
Federal Direct Stafford/Ford Loans (Direct Subsidized Loans)
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford/Ford Loans (Direct Unsubsidized Loans)
Federal Direct PLUS Loans (Direct PLUS Loans)- for parents and graduate or professional students
Federal Direct Consolidation Loans (Direct Consolidation Loans)
If you don't meet these criteria, the Department of Education's regulations create a two-part test of other circumstances under which you may still be eligible if:
- Your employer is not "a business organized for profit, a labor union, a partisan political organization, or an organization engaged in religious activities, unless the qualifying activities are unrelated to religious instruction, worship services or any form of proselytizing;"
- Your employer provides any of the following public services: emergency management, military service, public safety, law enforcement, public interest law services, early childhood education, public service for individuals with disabilities and the elderly, public health, public education, public library services, school library services or other school-based services.
Scholarships
At Anna Maria, we encourage our students to research scholarships for financial assistance.
